Guide / RIGCHECK
What to check when Live2D Cubism cannot load a PSD
When Live2D Cubism cannot load a PSD, check the file format, image mode, and import-layer structure in that order. Use the official conditions as the source of truth and RigCheck only for the parts that can be reviewed locally.
Your PSD is analyzed in your browser and is not uploaded to our server.
Run the local PSD checkStart with these checks
- Confirm that the file is actually a standard PSD, not only named with a .psd extension.
- Confirm RGB, 8-bit/channel, and sRGB.
- Review duplicate layer or group names and remaining layer masks.
- Merge line art, fills, and clipping for the import structure.
- Check the official import flow and the Cubism version you are using.
Check the format and image mode first
Live2D's official notes list PSD format, RGB, and 8-bit/channel as import conditions. Renaming a file to end in .psd does not convert its internal format. Open the image mode in your authoring application and confirm the actual settings.
Review the import layer structure
Combine the line art, fills, and clipping needed for one part, and apply layer masks before saving the import PSD. Duplicate layer or group names can create confusion and later problems, so give import objects stable names.
Hidden layers and groups can be imported. Remove or organize content that should not be part of the import PSD.
Review the Cubism import flow
Load the PSD by dropping it into the Modeling Workspace or by opening it from the File menu. If a model is already open, use the model settings to choose whether the PSD creates a new model, adds a PSD, or replaces an existing one.
Use RigCheck to narrow the cause
RigCheck checks the PSD header and layer structure in your browser. Review format, RGB/8-bit, profile, duplicate names, and masks before returning to the official guide. The checker cannot reproduce every Cubism import condition.
